Reflections from a Doting Aunt

Aug 31, 2010 | Beth Boal

I had the pleasure of meeting my niece this weekend!  Fiona Anne Boal arrived at 11:11pm on Friday night.  She was 6lbs 8oz.  Beth (my sister-in-law...don't worry) is doing well.

After all the anticipation, holding Fiona was more of a sobering experience than I expected.  Though I am not her mother or father, I am still responsible for her.  As a member of my family, I am responsible for praying daily for her, showing her God's love, and teaching her about Christ.  Holding this little child, so dearly loved, was a holy moment.  Each baby that is born is truly a miracle of God!
The Lord loves us with a greater love than this!  Also, we have the same responsibilty for each other as brothers and sisters in Christ.

The sermon this morning in Minneapolis was about Ephesians 2:8-10.  A huge take away point for me was the fact that God has predestined good works for us.  Another way to say it is that God has predetermined our ministry.  God has purposefully planned our portion.  Who are we to grumble or question Him?  The Lord has placed us all here in Ames for this time and has planned work for His Kingdom for us to do.

Love!
Beth
